Barbara Carr-Goodman, MSSW, ACSW

School Counselor, Clinical Social Worker & Psychotherapist

Barbara is an experienced school counselor, clinical social worker and psychotherapist who has been working with pre-teens and teens for over 30 years. She has extensive knowledge and skill in helping young people and their families with academic, emotional, social, and behavioral issues.

 

As the middle school counselor for 29 years at a prestigious private independent school in Far North Dallas, Barbara has guided over 900 students through the process of deciding available school options and opportunities. With a focus on discovering “best fit” future schools, she has developed comprehensive strategies for highlighting a student’s finest attributes and talents.

In addition, Barbara has planned and executed many dynamic leadership development programs. Her vast knowledge of diverse academic settings in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex contribute to her mastery of school placement and transitions for middle and high school students. 

 

Barbara holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin. She is married with three children who have attended a variety of private and public schools throughout the country. Barbara enjoys travel, adventure, hiking and cooking. She has a passion for UT college football, Mavs basketball and Rangers baseball.
